  • Solar PV and thermal – a marriage made in heaven?
Solar photovoltaic cells become less efficient as they get hotter, a decline that can be substantial on hot sunny days. Fortunately, such a partner exists – solar thermal. Now it seems the two are getting together in what could be a happy marriage.

Masdar PV sees installation of first roof mounted solar thin-film system

14 December 2009

Masdar PV has seen its solar photovoltaic (PV) thin-film modules installed for the first time on a rooftop.

The thin-film solar modules were erected on the roof of Dockweiler AG, an international manufacturer of stainless steel tube systems in Neustadt-Glewe.

“We are delighted that our solar modules are now being used for the first time in a roof mounted system – shortly after having equipped the first open space solar park with them. The company Ralos has been awarded the contract for planning and installing the equipment and we are hoping to work with them on future projects as well“, explains Joachim Nell, COO/CMO of Masdar PV.
