16 November 2009

US Energy Secretary Steven Chu is travelling in India and China as part of the Department of Energy’s (DoE) efforts to advance opportunities for international clean energy cooperation. During the China portion of the visit, Secretary Chu will join with President Barack Obama as part of the official White House delegation.

"China and India will play central roles in the world's energy future," Secretary Chu says. "By working together we can promote clean energy technologies, helping meet our energy and climate challenges while creating jobs here at home."

Energy Secretary Chu was in New Delhi, India 12-14 November, before continuing onto Beijing, China. Energy Secretary Chu will spend the remainder of his trip promoting clean energy in Beijing before returning to the United States on 18 November.

The visits will highlight the potential for mutually beneficial relationships in the clean energy sector, specifically focused on opportunities to create clean energy jobs and develop the latest in clean energy technologies.
