  • Denmark continues its renewable tradition
Denmark is proud of its heritage when it comes to pushing forward the use of alternative energy solutions, and is all set to host the make or break un climate change conference (COP 15) in 2009. renewable energy focus assistant editor Kari Larsen saw some of the Danish projects for herself.
  • CSP: Developments in heat transfer and storage materials
Photovoltaics (PV) is the dominant solar technology with more than 12 GW installed in 2010 alone, but PV (not to mention wind power) has inherent limitations of intermittency. This gives CSP a distinct advantage, and current advances in heat transfer and storage could increase the implementation of CSP as a significant renewable resource.

In our series on solar photovoltaic (PV) innovations, Joyce Laird looks at the latest (and possibly greatest) tools and technologies helping solar manufacturers today.
  • Innovations in PV installation technology
Part 1: Cell manufacturers continue to drive down the cost of manufacturing and boost efficiency of their products. But it’s for nothing if installation costs and peripheral devices that harvest usable energy from the cells negate the manufacturing cost savings, and add to the price for the end user. Joyce Laird looks at what is being done on the user end to move PV closer to a universal reality – one that meets all demands at a reasonable cost.
  • PV technology developments 2011 and beyond
Part one: despite a tough market last year, innovation in PV was alive and well. We look back at some of the developments that were making (and in some cases continue to make) the headlines...

Webinar: Solar PV cell analysis - date tba

09 September 2009

Renewable Energy Focus, in association with PerkinElmer, is organising a free, 1 hour webinar (exact date tba), examining how analysis/testing solutions and equipment can ensure quality and detect areas of improvement needed for solar cell development.

The webinar will highlight some areas of PV cell development where analysis with measurement/testing devices is especially relevant and helpful – such as reflectance, haze, and emissivity. It will also highlight some case studies where measuring equipment is key to the development process.

Speakers, date, subject and registration information to follow shortly…
