Alstom awarded contract for 405MW Philippines project

Three Alstom 135MW steam turbine and generator sets slated for the FDC Misamis Circulating Fluidized Bed Power Plant.

Alstom contracted with the First Northeast Electric Power Engineering Co. of China Engineering Group (NEPC)  to supply Filinvest Development Corp Utilities Inc’s (FDC) with equipment for the 405MW Circulating Fluidized Bed Power Plant. In addition to providing the turbines, generator sets and condensors, Alstom will provide the necessary advisory services for the construction of FDC’s Misamis CFB Power Plant. The units are expected to go online in 2016.

The steam turbine generator equipment will be manufactured in Alstom’s facilities across France and Poland. The power plant will generate electricity for the Mindanao Island, as part of the long-term solution to its energy issues -- in particular preventing the recurring blackouts plaguing the island.

The Misamis deal marks the second NEPC contract awarded to Alstom in the Philippines. The first one, announced in July of 2013, entailed the supply of steam turbine generators for the Concepcion power plant.
