H.C. Starck Clevios GmbH announced that it has "reached a milestone of 1000 S/cm conductivity or 100 Ohm/sq level of resistivity using an optimised PEDOT:PSS conductive polymer called Clevios".
According to the company, the goal of new developing organic photovoltaic (OPV) producers is to offer flexible and economic film based photovoltaics for novel applications.
H.C Stark is reportedly developing several material types for the OPV industry. The first is a hole acceptor layer that has a planarising or smoothing effect in the device, making OPVs operate "far more efficiently", the company says.
Second is the use of a material as an economic substitute for the indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode. "Highly conductive Clevios PH500 or the even more conductive “new” PH1000 can be used. Clevios materials are more resistant to cracking on bending and can be more reliable than ITO", according to a company source.
