Viaspace methanol fuel cell cartridges for Samsung

02 March 2009

California-based Viaspace has completed a second development contract, under which it delivered a high-reliability, standard methanol cartridge to Korean consumer electronics and appliances giant Samsung.

Viaspace has completed the delivery of a number of fuel cartridges and device valves, through its fuel cell subsidiary Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation, which were extensively tested in a variety of operating conditions and environments as part of the contract. DMFCC developed the cartridge in collaboration with manufacturing partner Sato Group of Japan.

Following the delivery Samsung demonstrated its fuel cell, which contains the DMFCC cartridge, to potential customers.

The contract was not previously disclosed because of confidentiality. Details of the cartridge, the fuel cell and the application in which it will be used were not made public.
