3Degrees expands green power programmes

3Degrees has been selected by the Maine Public Utility Commission to launch a new, voluntary state-wide green power programme, and has won a competitive bidding process to be a green power supplier to the CTCleanEnergyOptions programme.

The green power programmes means 3Degrees will be able to offer green power options to the majority of residential and commercial utility customers in the states of Maine and Connecticut, USA.

Furthermore, Seattle City Light has selected 3Degrees to help manage customer outreach for its Green Up green power programme, and Puget Sound Energy has decided to renew its green power programme services contract with 3Degrees, after their current three-year partnership helped increase PSE’s Green Power Programme participation rate by 50% since January 2008.

“Voluntary green power programmes enable utilities and their customers to increase overall demand for renewable energy,” says Adam Capage, Vice President of Utility Partnerships.

“Our leadership in this growing market is a result of our unique understanding of how utilities can develop cost-effective green power programs that support local and regional renewable energy projects in a way that builds value for the utility, its customers, and other key stakeholders.”

When a customer chooses to participate in a green power programme, the utility matches the customer’s electricity use with renewable energy. This ensures that for every megawatt hour of electricity used by the customer, another megawatt hour of electricity, generated from renewable resources, is delivered to the power grid.
