European, Asian wind turbine OEMs to collaborate

Several companies are discussing fundamentally different strategies for either global outsourcing for components or internally combining manufacturing processes for wind turbines.

Wind urbine manufacturers are regularly checking their component sourcing strategies in a bid to cut costs and boost product quality and reliability. Meanwhile, OEM’s are implementing radically different component sourcing approaches.

Procurement experts from manufacturers including Vestas, GE, Siemens, Gamesa, Goldwind and Mitsubishi Power Systems would share knowledge into the important selection criteria forming the foundation of their long term ties with component suppliers at the 3rd Global Wind Turbine Supply Chain Conference, in September 2011 in Hamburg, Germany.

The Supply Chain Director of Forewind, the leading developer Dogger Bank, will give an insight into the upcoming role of developers. It will also provide a perception to the adjustments which turbine supply chain strategy must experience to keep up with planned Round 3 and upcoming farshore developments.
