IKEA invests in German wind farms

09 September 2010

Gamesa, the Spanish wind turbine group, sells 6 recently developed wind farms in Germany to the IKEA Group.

Gamesa's wind farms are located in Lower Saxony, Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, in Northwest and Southwest Germany respectively. In total they are expected to have a combined capacity of 45.05 MW delivering an estimated 88 GWh of electricity per year, or enough to power 17 IKEA stores.

IKEA Group now own a total of 52 wind turbines following a similar deal involving four French wind farms last year.
