GE launches smart grid monitoring and diagnostics service

25 August 2010

GE Energy has launched a remote Monitoring & Diagnostics service for smart grid applications.

The system uncovers potential problems and helps reduce unplanned outages by identifying transformer failure conditions before conventional alarms are raised, GE Energy says.

Eamonn Whelan, General Manager - Monitoring & Diagnostics at GE Energy says the system “can reduce the risk of unexpected failure and unplanned outages by up to 80% when compared to unmonitored transformers.”
