Vestas delivers 200 MW to China

At the end of 2008 Vestas recorded orders for wind turbines totalling 200 MW for the Chinese market.

The first 100 MW order is for the delivery of 116 V52-850 kW wind turbines for China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power, bringing the total capacity of V52 wind turbines sold to the company to 500 MW.

The agreement includes supply of turbines, a VestasOnline™ Business SCADA solution and a two-year maintenance and service agreement. Delivery of the turbines is planned for the third quarter of 2009.

Vestas China Managing Director Lars Andersen says: “This latest sale – the eighth order from China Guangdong Nuclear Wind Power in the last 12 months – means that Vestas is now one of the largest single suppliers of wind turbines to the company.”

As per 30 June 2008, Vestas had installed more that 1,000 wind turbines in 13 provinces in China. With the opening of a new factory complex in Inner Mongolia and a new foundry in Jiangsu in 2009, Vestas will be operating five factory complexes in three different provinces.

In a separate release, Vestas says it has received another two orders with a total capacity of 100 MW to be delivered to two undisclosed wind power projects in China.

Both orders comprise supply of turbines, a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution and a two-year maintenance and service agreement. Delivery of the turbines for both projects is planned for the third quarter of 2009.
