Grove Fuel Cells

General News
31st annual fuel cell seminar and exposition will take place Oct 15-19, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas

WASHINGTON, DC, September 18, 2007 –
In 1839, Sir William Robert Grove, known as "Father of the Fuel Cell," created a gas voltaic battery that became the forerunner of modern fuel cells when he discovered it could be possible to generate electricity by reversing the electrolysis of water. Today, as a result of rising oil prices and immediate global environment concerns, there has been an increasing interest in fuel cells in numerous industries, catapulting Sir William Robert Grove’s progressive invention into the global alternative energy market spotlight.

The 2007 Board of Directors and Program & Technical Demonstration Committees are pleased to announce that they will host the 31st Annual Seminar and Exposition at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX, October 15-19, 2007. Attendees will learn about the latest technological advances, benefits and market developments in the fuel cell industry, as well as hear first-hand from end-users about their experiences with various fuel cell applications. The newest session track, added to this year’s program, will be devoted to helping manufacturers and developers learn how to market their products for commercialization. Industry experts will also examine and discuss government’s role in supporting fuel cell implementation.

Over 2300 participants and 175 exhibiting companies—representing over 36 different countries—attend annually, making it the largest and most highly regarded fuel cell conference in the world.

This year’s event theme, “Fuel Cells: On the Path to Energy Independence” will feature new approaches to accelerate energy independence through innovative fuel cell solutions. The Seminar & Exposition will kick off with an exciting panel of plenary speakers who will provide perspective on the pathways fuel cells may take in the transportation and power sectors. The event will also feature discussions on how the issue of global climate change could be the most new significant driver of our time for clean, high efficient and low carbon footprint technologies.

Through five days of lectures, keynotes, panels, and demonstrations, technical leaders, scientists, educators, researchers, developers, investors, students and manufacturers of fuel cell products will paint the future of the fuel cell business, and how fuel cells can ultimately transform modern society.

Attendees will hear from and interact with top executives throughout the global fuel cell industry, including Dan Keuter, vice president, nuclear business development, Entergy; Jamie Levin, director of marketing and communications, AC Transit; and Ben Yamagata, executive director, Coal Utilization Research Council, CURC. U.S. Fuel Cell Council Executive Director Robert Rose will provide an update on the state of fuel cell industry, including a benchmark on the technical and commercial progress in the U.S compared with last year in critical portable, stationary, transportation and military applications.

”Fuel cells are a practical, cost-effective and elegant technology that will be a major part of the overall solution to the energy dilemma facing the world today,” said Sam Logan, CEO of fuel-cell company Logan Energy and board member for the 2007 Fuel Cell Seminar & Exposition. “This year’s Fuel Cell Seminar & Exposition will not only serve as an excellent venue to unite the highest echelon of industry leaders and developers from around the world to showcase the latest innovations, but will provide an informal networking opportunity to share insight on how fuel cells can ultimately make a difference in our everyday lives.”

Celebrating its 31st year in existence, The Fuel Cell Seminar & Exposition is the foremost conference of its kind. The conference attracts over 2300 attendees annually, and offers the largest number of technical papers, the most exhibits, and the best coverage of the latest technical advances and research in the field. International participants include technical leaders, scientists, educators, researchers, developers, investors, students and manufacturers of fuel cell products. The simultaneous technical sessions discuss progress in four main areas: utility, residential, vehicle and portable, and discusses challenges in costs, fuels, storage, reliability, lifetime and adoptability. Fuel Cell Seminar & Exposition exhibitors and sponsors represent the latest in leading research and development—both domestically and abroad.
